Klaus Kroell was the fastest yesterday. Today he made a few mistakes but being on the podium is always good!

Patrick Kueng is very satisfied with his performance, he loves the Stelvio slope! Now it’s time to celebrate with his friends!

The winner of the Men’s DH 2011 in Bormio speaks of his performance. He’s worked hard and he’s been supported by his family and team. His next step is “being constant”. Well done, Didier!

DIDIER DEFAGO – First Place

The Swiss athlete is absolutely happy with his result here in Bormio. Everything went really well during the race on the Stelvio. He knew he could do good and be in the first places with the others and once he got to the finish area he thanked his knee. The injury he experienced gave him the chance to see everything from a different perspective both for what his career and his private life is concerned. Of course there are difficult and frustrating moments on the course, it is part of the game, but his job gives him a lot of satisfaction.
The come back has been a bit hard, he has recovered little by little and he has to say a big “thank you” to his family and doctors, the people who have always supported him. Read the rest of this entry »

Events in Bormio

It’s a tradition, the race is preceded by the national anthem and this year it will be performed by Yoshiko Ottogalli. She is a dramatic soprano of rare intensity who is able to convey emotions to the public and cross the borders of singing, conveying a universal message.

“Coreografie alpine del Centrocinquantenario“, a charming performance in vintage clothes and ski equipment, will take place at 11 a.m. A wine tasking will follow.

Kuerc square and its crowd!

It’s party time at Kuerc square! Hundreds of people are ready to follow the bibs’ draw; they have been following the path from Via Roma to Kuerc square, a very suggestive street full of  events recalling Bormio’s traditions and the great passion for sport in Valtellina.

The Unione Sportiva Bormiese has organized a great night to announce the pure adrenaline of the DH World Cup! Kuerc square hasn’t been so scowded for a long time!

Bode Miller dosn’t try to win the training, he wants to figure out the sections he doesn’t do very well and how to get more speed. What does he think of tomorrow’s race?

Peter Fill loves the Stelvio slope and tomorrow he wants to make a good impression! He says that it’s “Pure Adrenaline” right from (and at!) the start!
